The U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) announced its intent to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) on February 08, 2006. The EIS assessed the potential environmental impacts associated with the decommissioning and demolition or re-use of existing USAMRIID facilities, and the construction and operation of new USAMRIID facilities at Fort Detrick, Maryland.
